This article will walk you through installing and configuring the Bureau Works plugin for Figma.

Access your Figma account using your credentials.

Choose an existing design file or create a new one.

Navigate to the plugins menu within Figma.

Select Manage plugins....

Utilize the Search all plugins field to locate the Bureau Works plugin.

Click on the Bureau Works plugin to highlight it.

Select the Save button to install the plugin on your Figma account.

These settings can be found in your Bureau Works account, in your profile.

Access the Security tab, and in the API Token subsection, generate a new token.

A pop-up will open with your API ID and Secret. It is worth noting that this information will be displayed only once, so make sure to have the Figma ready to paste this data, or save them somewhere safe that you can access later.

Once the plugin is installed and running, you'll be able to access its features and functionality directly within your Figma design files.

To properly create projects from Figma, a configuration needs to be done on the Bureau Works side.

This will define granular configurations, like associating the projects to a Bureau Works Organizational Unit.

In Bureau Works, access the Integrations page. Identify the Figma integration and click on it.

You'll be able to create a new configuration in the Figma Configuration tab.

Define a name for the configuration and select an Organizational Unit that will be associated with it.

Remember to click on Create. A confirmation will appear on screen. After that, you'll be able to alter the name and Organizational Unit and update the configuration at any time.

A Configuration Group will, as the name suggests, allow you to group more than one configuration, if needed.

Grouping configurations will allow us to create a project per organizational unit, making it easier to distribute work to different stakeholders. Each project will automatically be assigned the default source and target languages for its corresponding organizational unit. For example, if one organizational unit uses language A and another uses B and C as default, creating a project with all three languages via the Figma plugin will automatically split it into two projects: one for organizational unit A with language A, and another for the second organizational unit with languages B and C.

Return to the Figma Integration tab. Select the Configuration Group tab and add a new group.

Define and fill in the Group name, and select at least one Figma configuration for it.

Once everything is configured and you have successfully logged in in the Figma plugin, you'll be able to request translations from Figma directly in your Bureau Works account.

To create a project, you'll need to inform the following fields:

1. Select a configuration. This configuration can be created in Bureau Works, as informed above.
2. Select a contact person. The contact person can be the users associated with the Organizational Unit informed in the configuration.
3. Source language
4. Target language
5. Workflows. Define the workflows that the project shall go through
6. Project name. Define and inform the project name.

After filling in the fields, send the project to Bureau Works, and the project will be created as specified.

It is worth noting that each page in Figma will create a corresponding work unit for each target language in Bureau Work's project.

Once the project is translated, it is possible to send the translations back to Figma.

To do this, simply click on Fetch translations and wait for the content to be created.

You'll be informed when the progress is finished.

Each Figma page sent to the project will result in a new page for each selected target language.
