Confirming Empty Segments

This article will cover Bureau Works Editor's capability of rendering empty segments into the final file and how you can do it on your end.

In Bureau Works, segments in a translation file may occasionally be intentionally left blank. This typically occurs when:

  • The translation does not apply to a given language.

  • It is intentionally omitted due to client instructions or linguistic rules.

The confirmation of empty target segments is available when dealing with .DOCX, PPTX and .XLSX files.

In order to use this feature on your documents, you'll need to first set this option during the file loading parameters:

The system will show up the following disclaimer:

This is due to the fact that if the source segment has structural tags, which are required for the proper file rendering, leaving this particular segment empty could lead to problems in compiling the final file due to a lack of structural tags.

After marking the option, the system will allow you to confirm empty target segments, as the example below:


Please note that the file preview renders the file without the empty segment, which is excluded from the final document:
